I am looking for a widget that will get the latest post's image from a category and display it with a lightbox on click.
The posts of the category will only have an image so essentially I want to display the latest article (no title no link no description). When clicking on the image it will open as a lightbox.
Does anyone know of any widget that does that?

The plugin 'Advanced Post List' allows you to grab any content of the very latest post in any category, such as "News", including images associated with it.
My site pulls the title and first 500 chars of text from the post onto our homepage ( like so;
<a href="[post_permalink]" alt="Latest news post">[post_title]</a>
[post_excerpt length="500"]...<B>
But you can instead use the following shortcode to pull the featured image:
[post_thumb]
As for a lightbox, you'll need to find a general lightbox plugin that can only be activated on one page. Plenty of them around.
