define name and content of dataframe dynamically with list in input

0

I wrote the following function :

 def extractFromInput(inputName: String, colNames: List[String]): DataFrame = {

val inputData: List[String] = inputName.split("-").map(_.trim).toList
inputData.foldLeft(df) {
(df: DataFrame, columnName: String) =>
df.withColumn(columnName, lit(columnName))

}
}

I rather want to traverse colNames List and use it to define the new columns names with the content of this list.
With the actual function the content of the columns is filled properly , but I can't make them be named properly.
Any idea how to do this please

  • It is not clear what you're asking. What is the purpose of colNames in your method ? It is never used. Please edit your question with a concrete example
