Add flags and country names to choropleth

I want to add country flags as well as country names to a choropleth on which I have already added some bars.



Some standard choropleth with bars:



library(cartography)



# Some standard data on Europe

data(nuts2006)



# the choropleth

choroLayer(spdf = nuts0.spdf, df = nuts0.df, var = "pop2008" , legend.pos = "n") 



# Adding Bars onto the map

propSymbolsLayer(spdf = nuts0.spdf, df = nuts0.df, 

                 var = "pop2008", symbols = "bar", col = "#920000", 

                 legend.pos = "right", legend.title.txt = "Totalnpopulation (2008)", 

                 legend.style = "c")


If it could be close to this, it would be great. But obviously, I still want it to have it as a choropleth and country names ;)

A CLEAN and SIMPLE way to add appendices to Table of Contents and bookmarks

0 I found a lot of questions abount appendices and ToC. Many users want appendices to be grouped in an Appendix part, however some problems arise with ToC, hyperref, PDF viewer bookmarks, and so on. There are different solutions which require extra packages, command patching and other extra code, however none of them satisfies me. I almost found an easy way to accomplish a good result, where appendices are added to bookmarks in the right way and hyperref links point to the right page.
