Can define the entries of table separate from the table?

So, basically I want to create a table with two columns "Paper Number" and "Description" and they are text based entries as in heavily text based.

So, can I define a format such that when I write further in the document something like

{
paper_name = "Some Information Here",
description = "Some Description here"
}

the latex will automatically add this data as entry in the table. This helps in organization of latex document and makes it easy for further editing. Any help or source is appreciated? I am pretty new to Latex, so please keep it simple.

EDIT: The Description is usually an small paragraph. I cannot represent that csv.

  • Look at csvsimple. You can create a comma (or semicolon, or pipe, or tab) separated text file and then transform it easily in a LaTeX table.

  • In general, parsing JSON-like formats with TeX won't be "simple", because curly braces are the grouping tokens and straight quotes might be active. What is pretty simple is e.g. CSV for LaTeX or XML for ConTeXt.

  • csv does not work because the fields are actually small paragraphs.
