Glassfish exception while destroying physical connection

0

I'm trying to create a MySQL JDBC connection pool on Glassfish5. If I check the Connection validation box and choose the table for validation (it populates correctly) and try to ping I get the following error message:

Ping Connection Pool failed for MySql. Exception while destroying physical connection Please check the server.log for more details.

server.log only has these two lines:

Warning: RAR8054: Exception while creating an unpooled [test] connection for pool [ MySql ], Exception while destroying physical connection
Severe: RestResponse.getResponse() gives FAILURE. endpoint = 'http://localhost:4848/management/domain/resources/ping-connection-pool.json'; attrs = '{id=MySql}'

When I open the endpoint mentioned above, I get some json data, including this message:

Cannot find poolName in ping-connection-pool command model, file a bugninjection failed on org.glassfish.connectors.admin.cli.PingConnectionPool.poolName with class java.lang.String

I have tried using Glassfish 4.1.2 and 4.1.1. MySQL connectors 5.1.18 and 5.1.47, Java 8 and Java 11. MySql server is v5.7.21 and I can connect to it without issues using MySql workbench and directly from Netbeans.
