What are current environments for combining LaTeX/MathJAX/… and handwritten notes/sketches/drawings?
I am pretty sure there must exist by now several editing environments where you could, using touchscreen, insert any kind of scribbling into TeX-generated output (or maybe even intersperse the source code with it). I just have no idea where to look for it. Does anyone know appropriate magic search keywords for googling?

I think this is not related to (La)TeX, but to the PDF viewer, etc.

@JouleV I believe it is, because the notes must fit properly into TeX output, so the system must process them accordingly somehow. If I just leave empty holes to fill them by hand later, there might be a problem with changing it during further editing.

(La)TeX only cares about the plain text file (.tex
) file, where of course you can't draw on. IMHO you are talking about something like use a pen to draw on the PDF, like many lecturers do, etc. (La)TeX does compile from.tex
to.pdf
, but not from.pdf
to.tex
!

@JouleV I am not asking about part of a tex compiler but some editing environment that interacts with it, that's why I used the tag editors. Why cannot some software calculate the area required for your drawing and report it back to the tex compiler?

Therefore this question is not related to (La)TeX, it is related to those "editing environments". And I may have a short answer AFAIK: no. PDF can't never be converted accurately to its.tex
file, therefore PDF viewer can never modify the.tex
file. Only we can.
