MatLab: How to read command line while in loop?

0

I'm printing the input from a serial interface into a graph, using this code. However, I need to be able to pass command-like strings to the interface to change system parameters, which effects I want to visualize through the plot.

Plotting the data into the graph happens in a while loop. Using input() is not an option, since this would interrupt the while loop, and therefore the update of the graph. What would be needed is some kind parallelization.

How can I achieve the required functionality in the most convenient way?
