How do I listen for events of a Objective-C view created via React Native?
I have implemented a ScrollView (FlatList
) in React Native and added it, via ObjC, as the self.view
property of a UIViewController object. It worked! Inside the "cells" of the FlatList I added a Switch
which we all know creates a UISwitch in Objective-C. Still working!
My problem is this: How does my iOS UIViewController class get notified of the Switch's state changes? Typically we'd use a delegation pattern, but the View Controller doesn't have a reference to the UISwitch that I know of. Is it possible for the onValueChange
function in Javascript to call into my UIViewController? What's the best design pattern here?
Here's my "Cell" in JS:
class SettingsToggleCell extends Component {
state = {
value: false,
};
onSwitchValueChange=(value, index)=>{
console.log(`value changing to ${value}`)
this.setState({"value": value},
() => {
// here is our callback that will be fired after state change.
console.log(`Switch Value Changed! ${value}`);
}
)
}
render() {
return (
<View style={{flex: 1, backgroundColor: 'white',
flexDirection: 'row'}}>
<View style={styles.switchCell} >
<View style={{flex:1, flexDirection:'row', alignItems:'flex-end'}}>
<Text style={{fontSize:22, marginLeft:10}}>{this.props.item.title}</Text>
<Switch
value={this.state.value}
onValueChange={this.onSwitchValueChange.bind(this)}
style={styles.switch}
/>
</View>
</View>
</View>
);
}
};
