RODBCext replace NA with null in query
I've set up a connexion between R and SQL (PostgreSQL 9.5) using the package Rodbcext, a layer on top of Rodbc that allow parametrized queries.
I'm trying to build a R function that delete some specific data in some specific table.
delete_SQL = function(data, table){
ch = odbcConnect(base,"postgres")
names = sqlColumns(channel=ch,table,schema="public",catalog = base)$COLUMN_NAME
query = paste0("DELETE FROM public.",table," WHERE ",paste0(names," = ?",collapse = " and "),";")
#query exemple : DELETE FROM public.protection WHERE id = ? and nom = ? and page = ? and type = ? and observation = ?;
sqlPrepare(ch, query)
sqlExecute(ch,data=data)
odbcClose(ch)
}
My problem is that if there is some NA values in my data.frame, sqlExecute will send a query in the lines of
DELETE FROM table WHERE id = 50 and nom = 'whatever' and page = NA and type = NA and observation = NA
which won't work because on the PostgreSQL side, data is null, not NA. For the same kind of query with INSERT, sqlExecute translate the NA values in R as null in PostgreSQL, but for some reason on DELETE it doesn't.
Do you see any way of achieving this ? I know that I can do a loop and a specific query for each line but I would prefer to do everything in one query, as I do with INSERT, and I suppose there's an option I don't know about that can do the work for me.
Thank you !

(By the way, if someone with rights can create the rodbcext tag it would be nice)
