How to find a bug with advance?
I'm currently helping out to prepare PGF for a bugfix release. In the manual there is an example which fails to typeset. I extracted a MWE below. The code only fails if make snapshot if necessary
is active.
documentclass{article}
usepackage{tikz}
usetikzlibrary{animations,views}
tikzset{make snapshot if necessary}
begin{document}
tikz {
path [name=here] (0,0);
begin{scope}[animate = { myself:view = { 0s = "{(0.5,0.5) (2.5,1.5)}" } },
slice = {(0.5,0.5) (2.5,1.5) at (0,0) (2,2)}]
end{scope}
}
end{document}
The problem is that the code fails with the completely useless error message
! Illegal unit of measure (pt inserted).
<to be read again>
advance
l.10 ...ce = {(0.5,0.5) (2.5,1.5) at (0,0) (2,2)}]
So what I tried to do was instrument advance
, to report from where it is called but, e.g. defadvance{message{theinputlineno}pdfprimitiveadvance}
, but that does not work because advance
is often prefixed by global
.
How can I debug this error? (LuaTeX solutions welcome)
