Formatting long division involving decimals

0

I am looking for ways of improving the formatting I have been using to present long division involving decimals.

Using this answer I have managed to come up with the following MWE.

documentclass{article}
usepackage[fleqn]{amsmath}
usepackage{array}
usepackage{booktabs}
usepackage{xcolor}

begin{document}
begin{equation*}setlengthextrarowheight{3pt}
begin{array}{rl}
& 0 , . ,,, 8 ,,,, 7 ,,,, 5 phantom{6666666666} \
cmidrule(r{4em}){2-2}addlinespace[-dimexprbelowrulesep + cmidrulewidth]
multicolumn{1}{r!{rule[-2ex]{0.6pt}{5ex}}}{4} & begin{alignedat}[t]{2}
& 3 , . , ^{color{red}{3}}5 , {^{color{red}{3}}}
{color{green!40!blue}{0}} , {^{color{red}{2}}} {color{green!40!blue}{0}}\%[1ex]
end{alignedat}
end{array}
end{equation*}
end{document}

As you can see, this is a very, very bad hack.

So what am I after? I would like to be able to control the length and width of the horizontal line that appears between the dividend and the quotient. I would also like the decimal point and the numbers that appear in the dividend and quotient to line up with each other. Finally, if the vertical line appearing after the divisor could meet up with the horizontal line, that would be nice.
