ModelMapper with objects behind interface

0

I'm having Entity and DTO types both behind the same interface for example:

public class CompanyDto implements Company {
private String test;
List<Project> projects;
}

public class CompanyEntity implements Company {
private String test;
private List<Project> projects;
}

public interface Company {
String getTest();
List<Project> getProjects();
}

public interface Project {
String getFoo();
}

When I just use the default way of converting it doesn't convert the List of Projects. Because they are behind an interface, it works when I don't put them behind an interface.

So I thought I need to create a custom converter like this:

    Converter<List<CompanyEntity>, List<CompanyDto>> converter = new Converter<List<CompanyEntity>, List<CompanyDto>>() {
public List<CompanyDto> convert(MappingContext<List<CompanyEntity>, List<CompanyDto>> context) {
// CONVERT
}
};

But I'm stuck here because the destination is always null on context.
Is there also no other way to just specify CompanyEntity to CompanyDto once so that even when they are in a list that it just works?

  • How model mapper should recognize, what kinds of Project you want to get for each of company? Do you have something like: CompanyDto contains only ProjectDto and CompanyEntity contains only ProjectEntity? Or projects should stay unconverted?
