endswith first arg must be bytes or a tuple of bytes, not str

0

I have problems with errors as mentioned in the Title.
the first orignial code is as below: "¶" (ASCII 182)

rm = visa.ResourceManager()
cc = rm.open_resource("TCPIP::10.38.94.157::2049::SOCKET")

sendstr = '11004¶1¶1n'
cc.write(sendstr)
Temp = cc.query()
print(Temp)

the error is :

UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character 'xb6' in position 5: ordinal not in range(128)

then I tried to add the encode('utf-8')

sendstr = '11004¶1¶1n'.encode('utf-8')
cc.write(sendstr)
Temp = cc.query()
print(Temp)

the new error is

TypeError: endswith first arg must be bytes or a tuple of bytes, not str

I have no idea what't wrong. any advice are appreciated!
thanks in advance!

    Your first code should be fine. The complaint there is that your console cannot print the result, but the code should actually have worked.
