Why do you want to usemathbf
instead of the answer you got here: tex.stackexchange.com/a/464425/36296 ?

@samcarter in this special case I want the shape of the letter to be as mathbf. boldsymbol has another shape.

I don't get an error. Can you post a minimum working example?
documentclass{article}
pdfoutput=1
usepackage{bm}
begin{document}
$dot{mathbf{tilde{x}}}(t)$
$dot{bm{tilde{x}}}(t)$
end{document}

Now using bm package I don't get error either but the symbol is not bold
