Best approach to reading magstripe data, creating a profile and storing the profile

0

I wanted to know what is the best way to read in magstripe data from an identification card and to make a profile of that person. The purpose is to use those ids to store tokens which can then be used to buy items from a vending machine. If there is a library for magstripe that is recommended please let me know.

I should note that I don't have a lot of experience with databases so I would like to ask if there is anything in particular I should know about choosing which database I should use to store these profiles?

Thanks
