How many ways are there to connect with Database in Java?

0

I know about multiple ways to connect with database in Java . But I've some confusion, when it comes to Spring.

We have multiple ways to connect to Database:

Using Old Gen. JDBC Driver code.

Using Hibernate

Using Spring with JDBC Template

Using Spring with Hibernate

Using Spring with Data JPA.

I'm confused about last 2 approaches. Is there any diff. between "Spring with Hibernate" and "Spring with Data JPA"?

Do we have any other ways to connect to database when using Spring?

  • There is only 1 way to connect to a database... That is through a JDBC driver. Everything else are layers on top of the JDBC driver.

  • @M.Deinum: Yes. But when to use Spring JDBC Template, Spring Data, Spring Data JPA or Hibernate? Are Spring Data and Spring Data JPA same thing? If I have to use Hibernate and Spring in my project, then which one I should use - Spring + Hibernate OR Spring Data + Hibernate OR Spring Data JPA + Hibernate?
