Using RJDBC to connect to Vertica using SSL Certificate Store
I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to connect to Vertica using R. I am using RJDBC but there's a complication that my connection requires a SSL certification trust store. When I try to run the following code:
library(RJDBC)
vDriver = RJDBC::JDBC(driverClass='com.vertica.jdbc.Driver', classPath='mypath/vertica-jdbc-7.2.3-0.jar')
vertica <- dbConnect(vDriver, "jdbc:vertica://hostname:5433/DBNAME",
user = "uname",
password = rstudioapi::askForPassword("Database password"))
I get an error:
Error in .jcall(drv@jdrv, "Ljava/sql/Connection;", "connect", as.character(url)[1], :
java.sql.SQLInvalidAuthorizationSpecException: [Vertica]VJDBC FATAL: Authentication failed for username "uname"
I tried using ssl-cert as a parameter with the path of my certificate but the same error threw up. When connecting to Vertica using DBeaver I must use Djavex.net parameters entered as VMargs in the command line.
How can use my certificate with RJDBC?
r ssl jdbc vertica rjdbc
