I'm trying to run a docker-compose build in a very simple jenkins job using a jenkinsfile.

I'm using a pipeline from scm to get the source code as show in the:

The jenkinsfile I'm using is as follows:

I tried running the docker-compose up command without linking the docker-compose.yml with the -f but I get the same result so it seems I'm missing something fundamental here.

It's because you are assigning Jenkins instance to variable inside pipeline.

Jenkins assume that jobs can be interrupted, paused and resumable and to achieve that it requires to all pipeline data to be serializable.

Jenkins instance is not:

Caused: java.io.NotSerializableException: hudson.model.Hudson

You probably should not need to import jenkins models and use Jenkins instance. Your pipeline will work without these.

However if you need to perform some operations on jenkins instance you can use NonCPS annotation.

By changing the jenkinsfile syntax a bit

    pipeline {



    agent any

      stage(‘Build’) {

        steps {

          sh '/usr/local/bin/docker-compose up --build'

        }

      }

    }

}

It is now working properly it seems that my jenkinsfile syntax I was using is outdated.
